Dr Sally Hong

M.B.B.S MSc FRACGP

Sally qualified as a medical doctor in 1987 at Sun Yat-sen University in China. Following her graduation, Sally practiced medicine and trained as an endocrinologist at a large tertiary hospital for over ten years. During this time, Sally developed a thorough knowledge of internal medicine and became an exceptionally experienced physician across several disciplines. Of particular importance during this period was a focus on the management of diabetes and the management and prevention of chronic disease.

After moving to Brisbane in 2004, Sally has practised in both public hospitals and GP clinics. Despite the hectic nature of the move to Australia, she also obtained her Australian GP college fellowship. Sally enjoys the medical diversity allowed by both a GP practice and her attending to the care of aged-care residents in nursing homes. She believes that the time she dedicates to elderly medicine is important.

Dr Sally has a wide variety of personal medical interests. In addition to general and geriatric medicine, mental health and women’s health issues are important to her. She has been encouraged by the renewed community attention these issues have received in recent years. She is an energetic and humours doctor by nature, providing a comfort and happiness to patients when they meet her. Outside of medicine, Sally enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs. She can also often be found at the gym or aerobic classes on a regular basis. In addition to English, she speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and Tuizao dialects.
